Type of Call

Input / Survey

Recognising the crucial role that local and regional governments play in driving the transition to a climate-neutral Europe, the European Commission has steadily ramped up its support for urban-led sustainable energy and climate planning over the past two decades. Yet, despite these advancements, unleashing the full potential of cities and regions to champion climate action on the scale required remains a complex challenge.

Numerous barriers stand in the way of cities and regions translating their vision for decarbonised and resilient territories into tangible reality. However, amidst these obstacles lie promising opportunities and favourable conditions that municipal and regional authorities can harness to enact more impactful change.

An in-depth understanding of these dynamics is crucial for strategic planning, empowering cities and regions to spearhead ambitious sustainable energy initiatives with precision and efficacy, ensuring their timely and effective implementation.
