Urban Transition Mission : Call to Cities to Accelerate Clean Energy Urban Solutions

urba TM

The Mission launched an open call for cities to join the Urban Transitions Mission City cohort last week - cities are invited to apply online and express their interest to join the Mission’s cohort by the 22nd of October through a brief questionnaire.

The Urban Transitions Mission will work with a cohort of 50 ambitious cities worldwide to demonstrate integrated pathways towards holistic, people-centered urban transitions built around clean energy and innovative net-zero carbon solutions. By 2030, these pathways will be validated by an additional group of 250 cities and inspire cities across world regions on their journey towards decarbonization.

It will offer cities an urban transition net-zero framework that will build on the knowledge and expertise of a Global Innovation Alliance of supporting partners and organizations and the first-hand experience of the cities engaged. This framework will help cities to strengthen their existing climate and energy action plans, across all steps of their city climate action journey, as well as aiding prioritization, gap identification, and assessment of co-benefits of climate, to help them adopt system wide approaches to reach net-zero.

Thanks to the collaboration with partners, as well as other Missions, cities will be empowered to work together with national governments to develop, pilot, and scale innovative solutions and approaches for urban transitions, and meet together the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

More information on the value proposition for cities, their expected commitment, an info pack on the selection process, and FAQs are available here: Urban Transition Mission.
