Current rules created a governance mechanism to help the EU and Member States meet their climate and energy objectives through strategic planning, reporting, and monitoring. This initiative aims to keep Europe on track to meet its climate goals, while mainstreaming, strengthening and modernising those rules and putting forward an enabling framework for the decade ahead securing Europe’s competitiveness and sustainability.

The fourth Call for Proposals under the European Urban Initiative – Innovative Actions (EUI-IA) will launch in February 2026, with an indicative ERDF budget of EUR 60 million (subject to budget availability).
