Impact of Citizen Engagement on Policy, Institutions and Society

Has citizen engagement made a difference to your policies and policymaking processes?

The European Commission’s Competence Centre on Participatory and Deliberative Democracy wants to hear about your experience in achieving impact through purposefully organised citizen engagement exercises in policymaking. The Centre is interested to find out what impacts are important to you and how your initiative achieved impact.

Impact of citizen engagement can include things like improving the connection between citizens and institutions, incorporating citizens’ inputs in policymaking, and changes of trust in, and legitimacy of, institutions. Your input would help enrich the study which is dedicated to better-understand the impact of citizen engagement in policymaking, institutions and society. The study, coordinated by the Joint Research Centre, is aiming to support public administrations in implementing citizen engagement initiatives across the European Union at local, national and regional levels, and will be published in a report in 2025.

Your valuable contribution is welcome before April 25, 2025, which will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.

Your answers can be anonymous, unless you explicitly choose to identify yourself. Please note that the survey is in English, and answers would be best if provided in English too.
