Join as Supporter

EU Covenant of Mayors Supporters are public or not-for-profit organisations that commit to promoting the EU Covenant of Mayors and to mobilising and supporting their members and/or local governments to reach EU’ climate and energy objectives.

Why Join

The EU Covenant of Mayors helps energy and climate agencies, EU and national associations of local and regional authorities and civil society organisations to mobilise and support local authorities with climate planning.

Join the Covenant of Mayors as Supporter to:

Eligibility

Associations of local and regional Authorities, European federations, local and regional thematic agencies (energy/environment), NGOs and civil society organisations can join as Covenant Supporters. 

The role includes the following categories: 

  • Regional and local thematic agencies
  • Associations of local and regional authorities
  • Non-governmental and civil society organisations
  • Associated partners
Local public entities aggregating municipalities 

Local action groups, communities of municipalities and similar entities can be recognised as networks of local / regional authorities and join the initiative as Covenant Supporters if the following criteria are met: 

  • The adhesion to the initiative is linked to the support of Covenant Signatories in the development and/or implementation of their action plans.
  • The entity is governed by public and non-profit entities only. 
Associated Partners 

European Federations of the private sector and other such structures which are in position to provide linkages with private companies and civil society, as well as support to Covenant signatories - notably in the form of technologies, tools, financial incentives, promotional materials, cultural and participative initiatives - can join the Covenant as Associated Partners

How to Join

Associations of local and regional authorities, NGOs, Agencies interested in obtaining the status of Covenant Supporter should go through the following steps:

Step 1

After checking your eligibility, register through the dedicated online form.

Step 2  

After confirmation of eligibility by the Covenant Europe Helpdesk, you will receive our Commitment Statement. You may find a draft version here.

Step 3  

Present the commitment statement to your legal representative for approval and signature. Once signed, send it back to supporters@eumayors.eu. Once such statement is received, the EU Covenant Helpdesk will publish your organisation’s profile and you will become an official member of the Covenant Community.

After Joining

1. Communicate 

Share your engagement and with the media! To help with this, our Supporter CoM-munication Pack will be available soon.

2. Learn from the initiative

Get inspired by other Supporters, participate in our Supporters’ peer-reviews, get familiar with the Covenant methodology and promote it within your network.

3. Organise activities

Gather Covenant signatories in your network/area for events and workshops.

 

4. Spread the word

Promote the initiative and echo our thematic campaigns by using our ready-made communication toolkits. If you would like specific material in your language, contact communications@eumayors.eu to let us know.

 

 

5. Share your story

Gain visibility on the European stage by sharing your organisation’s work and members’ achievements, by getting featured in our CoM-munity Stories, thematic campaigns, news or events.

6. Get involved

Join EU Covenant of Mayors’ workshops at EU and national levels to connect with peers and engage in dialogue with national and EU institutions. 

7. Give feedback

Respond to our annual surveys to let us know what you are doing, the opportunities and challenges you and your members are facing, and how we can help.

8. Stay up to date 

Subscribe to our newsletter, follow us on LinkedIn and check out our website to stay up-to-date with latest activities and opportunities from the Covenant and partner initiatives.
