The Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) 2025 will take place in November 4–6, 2025 in Barcelona, bringing together global city leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to shape the future of urban innovation. As the leading event for cities, SCEWC provides a high-visibility platform to showcase cutting-edge solutions, innovations, and expertise to a global audience of industry leaders, potential partners, and investors. 

The event will feature discussions on digital transformation, urban mobility, energy efficiency, and sustainable development, with a strong focus on climate-neutral cities and smart urban solutions. SCEWC 2025 will foster collaboration and knowledge exchange, driving forward Europe's ambitions for smarter, more sustainable, and climate resilient cities. 

The EU Covenant of Mayors will be present throughout the three days in dedicated sessions and at the EU representation booth, alongside 26 other initiatives and projects showcasing Europe’s commitment to resilient, inclusive, and smart urban transformation. 

'Sustainable Urban Futures: Navigating Energy, Environment, and Resilience'

This session will explore how cities can lead the way in sustainable development by integrating clean energy, resilient infrastructure, and inclusive policies. It will also highlight the roles of urban initiatives such as the Covenant of Mayors, the Green City Accord, the Smart Cities Marketplace, and the Horizon Europe Missions in advancing urban transformation. The European Commission’s stand will serve as a hub for networking, knowledge exchange, and showcasing cutting-edge solutions in energy, mobility, digitalisation, and citizen engagement.

Citizen Centric Energy Management - 04/11/2025; 16:15-16:45

This session will highlight practical, on-the-ground insights from cities and projects that are advancing citizen-centric energy management. It will demonstrate what works in practice, what drives measurable impact, and what lessons can guide others in accelerating the transition towards smarter, more sustainable urban energy systems.

Participants will gain concrete examples of how cities are empowering citizens, leveraging data and digital tools, and fostering collaboration to optimise local energy use and efficiency. The discussion will aim to distil key takeaways and recommendations for other stakeholders seeking to replicate successful approaches.

Integrated Urban Sustainability - 05/11/2021; 15:30-16:00

This session will showcase concrete experiences and insights from cities and projects that are advancing integrated approaches to urban sustainability. It will demonstrate what works in practice, what creates tangible impact, and what lessons can guide others in accelerating the transition toward climate-neutral and resilient cities.

Participants will gain practical examples of how local governments, technology partners, and research organisations are collaborating to leverage digital tools, optimise energy and resource use, and engage citizens in shaping sustainable urban futures. The discussion will distil key takeaways and transferable recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and city networks striving to replicate effective strategies across Europe.

On 6 November (11:30–12:00), the Geospatial Tools for Cities Focus Group will host a session at the booth, featuring city case studies and practical examples of geospatial tools supporting local climate and energy action.
