The European City Facility has launched a new funding opportunity for local authorities and public entities across Europe to support their sustainable energy and climate action plans. The funding, which is supported by the European Union's LIFE Programme, offers a lump-sum payment of €60,000 and hands-on assistance to 70 municipalities or local authorities, as well as their groupings and local public entities aggregating municipalities or local authorities, to develop investment concepts on clean energy and energy efficiency.
The deadline for applications is 30 June 2023 at 17:00 CEST.
Applicants from across the EU Member States plus Ukraine and Iceland are eligible to apply. The funding can be used to develop investment concepts focused on clean energy and energy efficiency, such as technical feasibility studies, market analyses, stakeholder planning, or legal, economic, and financial analyses.
Applicants must demonstrate proven political support, potential investment size, feasible energy-related impacts, and plans for governance structure and stakeholder engagement to apply. The European City Facility has also established a National Support system in most eligible countries to provide applicants with information sessions, hands-on guidance, and feedback in their national languages.
Beyond the funding, successful applicants will receive capacity building, matchmaking offers, and dedicated financing tools to bring their project ideas closer to securing private or public financing. This funding opportunity presents an excellent chance for local authorities and public entities to act on their needs and make progress towards their sustainable energy and climate action plans.
