The City of Athens is taking a groundbreaking step in the fight against energy poverty by becoming the first city in Europe to introduce zero municipal taxes for energy-poor households.

Greater efficiency, lower costs, and a better environment. The Cascais City Council has launched Portugal’s first locally-developed Green Fund focused on the environment. This fund aims to provide financial support to local families for implementing energy efficiency and transition measures.

The Energy Poverty Advisory Hub (EPAH) presents the results of its second round of technical assistance, which has supported over 30 municipalities and supramunicipalities across the EU in their fight against energy poverty.

In the frame of the LIFE BIO-BALANCE project, Habitat for Humanity supported selected low-income communities in Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania to find ways to reduce firewood use. Based on local needs, different interventions were implemented as pilot projects in the three countries.

In response to the energy crisis, Grenoble has implemented a comprehensive sufficiency plan to cut energy consumption. Building on its longstanding commitment to consumption reduction, the city has used the crisis as an opportunity to expand sufficiency into a key element of its long-term strategy.
