M.a.15. municipal local energy community MITIGATION ENERGY POVERTY
There is currently a local energy community project in the municipality, featuring a photovoltaic installation on the southwest roof of the municipally-owned Las Margaritas Civic Center.
The City Council will grant a concession to the Municipal Land and Housing Company (EMSV), which will transfer the use of the generated energy to the energy community through a service concession contract governed by public procurement regulations via a public tender process.
The installation has a capacity of 38 kWp and is expected to involve 26 families in the project.
Implementation Timeframe: 2024-2030
Sector: Electricity
Implementation Cost: 91.610,00€
M.a.17. solar photovoltaic energy installations in municipal buildings and facilities MITIGATION
With the aim of increasing renewable energy production in the municipality, it is proposed to utilize municipally-owned roofs and buildings to install photovoltaic panels.
To implement this action, preliminary feasibility studies are required to identify rooftops with potential, as well as assess the economic and technical viability of the proposal. The main requirement for determining feasibility is the availability of sufficient space for the proper placement of the photovoltaic modules.
Implementation Timeframe: 2025-2030
Sector: Municipal
Implementation Cost: 839.740,00€
M.d.1. energy office MITIGATION ADAPTATION ENERGY POVERTY
Getafe has already implemented a Healthy Homes Office (OHS) service. This office provides advisory services to residents, offering the following:
Understanding utility bills
Reducing energy costs
Processing social energy discounts
Exercising energy-related rights
Learning about housing assistance and receiving advice
The office has handled over 4,000 citizen inquiries, improving energy bills for more than 1,300 households in Getafe, achieving an average monthly savings of 25% on energy supply bills.
Implementation Timeframe: 2023-2030
Sector: Education
Implementation Cost: 529.313,00€
A1. getafe rehabilita ADAPTATION ENERGY POVERTY
Currently, the municipality of Getafe is developing a Plan for rehabilitation, energy efficiency, and comfort in homes, buildings, and neighborhoods. Additionally, various rehabilitation projects have been carried out in older neighborhoods:
EPIU Project: A European project aimed at reducing energy poverty in the Las Margaritas and La Alhóndiga neighborhoods.
ARRU Project: A Regeneration and Urban Renewal Area project funded by European funds.
ERRP Project: Two projects in Residential Environments for Scheduled Rehabilitation, also funded by European funds.
Implementation Timeframe: 2024-2030
Sector: Buildings
Implementation Cost: 91.609,50€
M.b.2. replacement of lighting fixtures with more efficient ones MITIGATION
The action involves progressively replacing any remaining luminaires equipped with mercury vapor (MV) and mixed-light lamps, whose commercialization has been banned since April 2015, as well as luminaires with discharge lamps such as high-pressure sodium vapor (HPS) and metal halide (MH) lamps, with more efficient alternatives like LED technology.
Implementation Timeframe: 2024-2030
Sector: Municipal
Implementation Cost: 5.520.000,00€
A.9. forest fire prevention and response plans ADAPTATION
The objective of this action is to regulate the use, coordination, and mobilization of the means and resources available within the city, ensuring maximum efficiency in situations of pre-emergency and emergency caused by forest fires, in line with the principle that, in such situations, the protection of life and people’s safety must prevail over any other consideration.
Implementation Timeframe: 2026-2030
Sector: Buildings
Implementation Cost: 50.000,00€
A.2. infrastructure upgrade / renewal ADAPTATION
The City Council will develop a strategy aimed at improving and maintaining infrastructures, transport, and the entire generation and logistics systems of energy, water, and waste, in order to enhance their capacity to adapt to the identified impacts. In addition, efforts will be required to ensure the maintenance of these infrastructures.
Implementation Timeframe: 2028-2030
Sector: Buildings
Implementation Cost: 1.832.219,00€
A.4. expansion of green and blue spaces ADAPTATION
The increase in temperature leads to the occurrence of heat waves, which makes it important to implement and enhance urban green areas that contribute to a better quality of life by absorbing CO₂ and reducing temperatures. Therefore, these green areas will be expanded with plant species adapted to local climatic conditions, while promoting the construction of green roofs or walls in specific locations strategically positioned. In addition, the installation of a green belt with native species can also serve as a space for environmental education through the use of information agents, panels, and other tools.
