Workshop Report: Exchange between city practitioners and the authors of the IPCC Special Report Chapter 5

This report summarises the online workshop held on May 22, 2025, which facilitated dialogue between European city practitioners and authors of the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities (SRC). The workshop aimed to ensure the SRC addresses urban needs and leverages city expertise, thereby strengthening the science-policy-practice interface for urban climate action. 

Key discussions highlighted the critical role of cities in climate solutions and the importance of documented urban experiences for scientific assessment. Participants emphasised cities' expectations for practical, data-driven, and financially viable insights from the report. Topics covered included literature types for the report, the value of diverse literature for IPCC, and the financial aspects of climate measures. The workshop underscored the mutual benefit of robust collaboration between cities and the IPCC, aiming to enhance the report's relevance and impact for global urban climate action.
