Webinar: Joint planning through SUMPs and SECAPs towards zero-emission mobility in cities

Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning is a strategic and integrated approach to deal with the complexity of urban transport. Its core goal is to improve accessibility and quality of life by achieving a shift toward sustainable mobility. Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) are based on a thorough assessment of the current situation and future trends for sustainable mobility, a common vision with strategic objectives, and an integrated set of regulatory, promotional, financial, technical and infrastructure measures to deliver the objectives, accompanied by monitoring and evaluation. Another key feature of SUMPs is the involvement of citizens and stakeholders, and the coordination of policies across different sectors, which include energy and climate.

For many years, cities have been working both on their Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans and on their Sustainable Climate and Energy Action plans. However, the responsibilities for one or the other plan often seats with a different department within the city administration, or under different political mandates, making internal coordination processes challenging.
