Energy Cities Annual Forum 2025 - Weaving Connections

The forum will be a new edition of the ‘Grafting Cities’ series, which aims to unveil the remarkable actions our members have undertaken to “graft” their cities to accelerate their transition.

The art of grafting shows how a place can flourish by building on its assets and ‘twisting them’. Grafting a city is also a movement to transform street by street, house by house, place by place, increasing diversity and thus resilience.

This year the forum will be held under the theme Weaving connections, which will highlight the power of connections, not only among our community but also at local level, where different actors come together to develop mechanisms and projects that help them create sustainable and resilient ecosystems.

Energy Cities' forum will host cities’ representatives, organisations and relevant stakeholders to discuss the importance of forging connections to foster collective efforts and build a learning community for municipalities to share knowledge, experiences and best practices.

Discover five parallel thematic journeys

The five journeys will focus on finding collective solutions to achieve fair, greener and healthier cities. From renewables, local partnerships, co-investment models to circular economy, you will learn more about the initiatives Besançon is carrying out and you will be able to share your experience and best-practices with other experts.

  • Join us on Journey 2 to explore innovative partnerships for a city “100% renewables”

This journey will analyse the role of municipalities to foster partnerships and develop new modes of co-investment to plan large-scale deployment of renewable energies in urban environments to improve citizens’ well-being.

  • Or on Journey 5 on adapting to climate change

This journey will explore how cities can make their urban ecosystems more resilient and anticipate the negative effects of climate change by protecting and improving their infrastructures and networks.
