This year’s forum ‘Towards a Citizens Energy Package: Empowering citizens for a just energy transition’ takes place in the context of the next Commission mandate, following the European elections earlier this year. It will kickstart work on the Commission’s Citizens Energy Package, which will increase citizen participation in the energy transition and strengthen the social dimension of the Energy Union.
Organised by the Commission in collaboration with the Hungarian Energy and Public Utilities Regulatory Authority, the 2024 edition of the Forum will bring together a wide range of local stakeholders representing NGOs, cities, energy communities, energy agencies, consumer associations, businesses and citizens to exchange on challenges and solutions to effectively empower citizens on the ground to ensure a fair and inclusive energy transition.
It will be live web-streamed with the possibility for the online audience to engage. The working language is English and interpretation is not guaranteed. We count on the representatives’ active participation in the Forum and their willingness to work with other national stakeholders to maintain momentum at national, regional and local level.
Alongside the Citizen’s Energy Forum, the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform will host a workshop on 4 December 2024 to exchange experiences on energy communities. The workshop is intended for local and regional authorities, as well as Energy Agencies and other public actors that can enable the emergence of energy communities.
